Whether you're a brand new player or a long time player, there's a few major benefits to owning a house in LOTRO. Let's go over them quickly...

Pros:
  • A teleport to your housing location.
  • A house vault.
  • Quick access to a personal vault, vendor, and task boards. Premium housing also provides quick access to the auction house.

Cons:
Free-to-play (FTP) players will need to pay maintenance fees weekly to maintain their house.

The addition of a house vault alone makes owning a home important enough to bother with buying and maintaining a house. Players can expand their house vault to sixty slots without using LP or mithril coins. That's sixty slots of storage for very minor weekly fees. The tier 1 home in the regular housing system costs fifty silver a week to maintain.

And a video of a user showing you how to decorate:

And one final note, the maintenance fees can be paid far in advance. What are you waiting for?

Then Merry heard of all sounds in that hour the strangest. It seemed that Dernhelm laughed, and the clear voice was like the ring of steel. "But no living man am I!”

Aye GMan, but you can increase the personal housing storage up to 60 with gold. The first upgrade costs 9G to 45 spaces and the second upgrade with gold is 27G to 60 spaces. After that it will cost 100 Mithril Coin to raise it 15 spaces up to the maximum of 255.

Yeah, I know. I can't even think about all the stuff I've lost now. I lost my perfectly positioned house, my personal kin, and my shire house. Blah.
