Have you ever seen a LM quickly rotate between pets and wonder how they cycle so fast? Right clicking on the pet's portrait and clicking unsummon is both timely and tedious. With how much value pets adds to survivability and group play, it is extremely important to have the ability of unsummoning and re-summoning pets on command, as efficiently as needed.

To achieve this, we can leverage a simple macro to create an "unsummon" pet hotkey.

Every time I hit "1" on my skill bar, my pet is unsummoned.

1. The normal typed command is "/pet release" (no quotations)
2. We create an alias linked to this command. In this case, we will macro the skill to ";p"
/alias ;p /pet release
3. To add this to a button or hotkey, we link the alias using:
/alias shortcut ;p [NUMBER] , in my example /alias shortcut ;p 1

Hope this helps!

Great tip! How would I map it to a function key? Is there a mnemonic I can use (tried F4 - that didn't work)?

Brilliant! I, however, use slot 1 for something else. A bit of digging revealed a similar, but different method to achieve the same goal. Using quickslot shortcuts, I was able to place the /pet release command on my 4th action bar in the first slot. It shows as a black button that is clickable AND movable like any other icon. You can lookup the possible positions in your settings under Keybinds. The actual command I used was:

/shortcut 49 /pet release
